Automotive In-Cabin Solutions
This segment’s most prominent camera applications are Driver Monitoring (DMS) and Occupant Monitoring Systems (OMS). DMS is already delivering on face tracking and driver authentication, and with health and vital sign monitoring, the span of possible use cases is just increasing; in some cases now made mandatory by regulators for all new car models. OMS in turn, will enable many convenience features but also promises breakthroughs in child safety and general passenger health monitoring.
In the attempt to consolidate the number of cameras in the cabin while at the same time delivering on functionality mandated by regulators and expanding additional functionality for all onboard occupants, the class of DOMS cameras has been introduced. There are multiple approaches to selecting the ideal lens for a DOMS camera, and the solution space includes high-resolution SuperFisheye lenses as well as lenses with a FOVEA distortion profile that is aligned off-center. No matter what distortion characteristic is selected, all these solutions require extensive design, material, and manufacturing know-how and expertise to deliver on RGBIR-optimized lenses that offer high performance over a broad wavelength spectrum.
