Key Technologies
Lifetime stable Hybrid Designs
We are leveraging best-in-class design expertise and are constantly driving process improvements and manufacturing innovation for our global customer base to push the boundaries of what is possible. Our optical and mechanical engineering teams apply their proven engineering know-how to create new products and novel solutions to support your project goals. From Design To Cost (DTC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Reliability (DFR), we always have the full product development cycle and your specific business case in mind.
SuperFisheye(TM) and Tailored Distortion
With the market trend toward increasing FOV for a single camera and multiple camera systems, Sunex offers unmatched miniature fisheye and SuperFisheye (>185deg) lenses with distortion control and low f/#. Sunex off-the-shelf solutions listed below are often a good starting point for Proof of Concepts (PoC) or to develop a custom OEM solution.
Advanced Mechanical Designs
Sunex’s renowned excellence in Optical Design is complemented by its extensive experience in optomechanical design. From m12 threaded aluminum barrels, to barrels with glue flange for active alignment, to the more advanced solutions featuring aluminum or plastic unibodies. We always see the optical path as one component of a larger system that, together, needs to be optimized.
Supporting Services
Reliability and Environmental Testing
Often, it is not the challenge to create a design “that works” but to find a solution that can scale to mass production (DFM), meets required price targets (DTC), and delivers on performance and quality (DFR). Our deep design and manufacturing experience comes from servicing some of the most demanding markets and applications, and combined with consistent quality and global on-time delivery, Sunex is the preferred partner for many.

“Scaling” as a lens design tool
“Scaling’ refers to a method where a known lens design is proportionally enlarged or reduced geometrically to meet a different image size requirement.

An Optics Platform for Automotive Vision
Taking a platform approach at the lens component level can deliver quality optics in support of faster innovation cycles.

Automotive Camera Trends Driving Changes in Optical Designs
The imaging applications in the automotive industry go through rapid changes.

Automotive Headlamp Optics
The automotive industry is moving toward adaptive, high-resolution µLED lighting that requires advanced lens design expertise.

Automotive InCabin – Optics matter in the future.
One thing seems to be agreed on across the industry: In-Cabin vision applications will expand rapidly.

Custom Lens Development Process
If an off-the-shelf solution can’t meet your critical needs we can work with you to create a customized solution optimized for your application.
